22/09/2022 - Proposal to provide a budget to support employees during the cost of living crisis ref: 1355    For Determination

Following consultation with the Leader of the Council, the Finance Portfolio Holder and Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Paid Service proposes a temporary cost of living support payment to all contracted staff currently on pay bands 1 to 7, as detailed in the table in the report. This offers the immediate recognition of the seriousness of the situation, which in the current climate is important.

In addition to this proposal, on 5 October 2022, the Appointments and Conditions of Service Committee (ACSC) will consider proposals for measures of a permanent nature to provide further support to staff on the lowest pay bands of the Council.

It is recommended that the Leader of the Council:

1. Endorses the proposal by the Head of Paid Service to make a temporary cost of living payment of £250 to all contracted staff currently employed on Pay Bands 1 to 7;
2. Approves the establishment of a budget by virement for the temporary cost of living support payments of £95,000 to be funded by a contribution from the Efficiency and Innovation Reserve.

To seek a decision and approval on the closure of three sites and the reduction in opening of two for the National Bank Holiday awarded for the Queens funeral to take place on Monday 19th September 2022

14/09/2022 - Women and Girls Skateboarding Session in Arnot Hill Park ref: 1353    Recommendations Approved

To give permission for Skate Nottingham CIC hold a women and girl’s skateboarding session in Arnot Hill Park on 24th September 2022. Set up time 13:45 – 14:00pm, event will run 14:00 – 17:00pm, take down 17:00 – 17:30pm

This decision is dependent on the issue of a licence indemnifying Gedling Borough Council in the event of accident for any activities held on the park and the applicant providing to the Council the appropriate public liability insurance.

13/09/2022 - Business Rates | Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund ref: 1351    For Determination

The purpose of this report is:
1)To seek approval to implement, in accordance with the latest Government guidance, the Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF).
2) To adopt the Council’s guidance, at appendix 2 to this report, for determining the allocation of the Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF).
3)To delegate, to the Director of Corporate Resources, the authority to determine discretionary relief award, in accordance with the Government’s and the Council’s guidance.
4)To establish a budget for the administration of the Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund, to the value of £1,189,282.

THAT:
1)the Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund detailed in appendix 1 to this report is implemented in accordance with the latest Government guidance;
2)the Council’s Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund guidance, detailed in appendix 2 to this report, is adopted as the Council’s guidance for the distribution of the Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund;
3)a delegation is provided to the Director of Corporate Resources, for the determination of the discretionary relief award of the Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund, in accordance with the Government’s and the Council’s guidance.
4)a budget is established for the administration of the Council’s Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund, to the value of £1,189,282.
