Question and Answer Session with the Leaders of the Opposition Groups

Councillor Chris Barnfather and Councillor Paul Hughes will attend to take questions on their roles as Leaders of the Conservative and Liberal Democrat Groups and any other topic.

Minutes:

Florence introduced opposition group leaders, Councillor Chris Barnfather (Leader of the Conservative Group) and Councillor Paul Hughes (Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group).

 

Youth Councillor questioned Councillor Barnfather and Hughes on the provision of careers advice and access to meaningful work experience opportunities in the Gedling area. Councillor Hughes declared his employment by an organisation providing careers advice in the area.

 

Youth Councillors also posed questions on unemployment, particularly in disadvantaged communities.

 

Youth Councillors raised the issue of bullying and whether the subject should be discussed by Borough Councillors and campaigned against, in the same way the domestic violence has been recently.

 

Youth Councillors raised transport issues with Councillor Barnfather and Hughes, discussing whether it might be time for Council’s to amalgamate or work in partnership to provide a wide ranging scheme like the London Oyster card scheme or for an app to be developed to bring together transport and fare information across the City and County.

 

 

36.

Future Meetings of the Youth Council

Following discussion at a recent meetings, Youth Councillors agreed to reschedule Youth Council meeting to take place on Wednesdays going forward.

 

The remaining meetings for the 2014/15 Civic Year have been rescheduled as follows:

 

Wednesday 18th March

Wednesday 13th May

 

Meetings post- May are currently being scheduled and will be notified at the 13th of May meeting of the Youth Council.
