Purpose:

To direct award a contract with Central Security Systems to install and maintain a CCTV Camera on Church Lane Recreation Ground, Arnold for a value of £14,093.80, in accordance with Rule 35.3(iv) of the Council’s Contract and Procurement Rules.

Decision:

Approve the direct award of a contract with Central Security Systems to install and maintain a CCTV Camera on Church Lane Recreation Ground, Arnold valued at £14,093.80 in accordance with Rule 35.3(iv) of the Councils Contract and Procurement Rules.

Reasons for the decision:

3.1 Funding has been agreed to the Council (under the name ‘UK SPF funding’.) The funding is time limited and must be spent by no later than 31st March 2024.

3.2 A key aim of the CCTV camera is to prevent and deter crime and disorder.

3.3 As the grant funding is time limited. Any delay in implementing this scheme might have an impact on the number of victims of crime This could potentially also cause reputational damage to the Council.


Alternative options considered:

The alternative would be to undertake a competitive procurement procedure which would take 1 month and this would mean a delay to the Council’s use of the funding for a CCTV Camera to be install on Church Lane Recreation Ground, Arnold. Consequences for such a delay may be an impact on the number of victims of crime and potential reputational damage to the council.
