To thank all staff and partners who have contributed to the work that has taken place across the Borough to reduce criminal activity.

106Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Hollingsworth, Councillor Clarke who would be late to the meeting and Councillor Barnfather (observer). Councillor Parr attended the meeting in Councillor Barnfather's place.

109Chief Executive of the Nottinghamshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Kevin Dennis, gave a presentation on the Police and Crime Plan, which the Police and Crime Commissioner is hoping to launch on the 28th of March 2013, outlining the plan's priorities, the consultation process that has taken place and answering questions on the future funding of Community Safety.

Programme, Research and Information Manager, Karen Sleigh, provided Members with feedback gathered from partner organisations during the consultation period and provided information on actions arising from this feedback.
110Councillor Michael Payne introduced a presentation of Corporate Director, David Wakelin, regarding the South Nottinghamshire Community Safety Partnership (CSP).

The Corporate Director updated Members on the CSP's Performance and Strategic Intelligence Assessment, highlighting crime reductions across the Borough and discussing issues around the increased reporting of specific crime types, particularly Domestic Abuse.
111Councillor Pulk (Leisure and Development)

• Bonnington Theatre is due to close on the 7th of March for refurbishment works.
• The Nottinghamshire Sports Awards were held in February and a number of Gedling residents were honoured.
• A sports leadership course is due to being at the St. George's Centre in Netherfield on the 16th of March.
• The Green Robin Dance Company are currently developing an early years dance and creative play project with Netherfield Children's Centre, which will be funded by Arts Development at Gedling Borough Council.
• Public Health funding for 2013/14 has been confirmed for the Positive Moves, Get Going in Gedling and Moving More Often programmes which are delivered by the Borough Council's Health and Exercise Promotion Team.
• A healthy living day will be held in Netherfield in March.
• The Leisure and Culture team will be attending the Newstead Celebration Event on the 23rd of March to talk to local residents about healthy lifestyles and participating in leisure activies.
• The Sports Development Team held a sports camp for disabled youth over the February half term, which was well attended.
• From April young people in Newstead will be given the chance to try Zumba and Martial Arts free of charge for six weeks.
• From April, the Handball club based at Sherwood E-ACT Acadamy will be expanding to provide sessions for 8-12 and 12-16 year olds.
• Gedling School will be running another Leadership Academy, Cabinet members are invited to attend and participate in activities.

Councillor Creamer (Environment)

• Public Realms works are still on going in Newstead and on the Phoenix estate
• Office and Depot Cleaning Services will be provided in house.
• Arboreal Services at Bestwood Country Park will now be provided in house at a saving of £20,000.

Councillor Fox (Community Development)

• Locality Co-ordinators in Netherfield and Newstead have been assisting residents with the collective energy switching application form.
• Communications are currently working on promotional posters for a number of locality events.
• The recent, re-scheduled, Gedling Funding Fair was a huge success.
• Around 300 people attended the Council's Chinese New Year event. Thanks to all staff involved in making the event such a success.

Councillor Payne (Communications and Public Protection)

• 51 houses have now completed applications to receive boiler upgrades and their details have now been sent to our contractors. Five houses have now been surveyed by contractors and passed for installation. Thanks to all staff involved in the management of the scheme and also on the frontline helping residents fill in applications.
• The recent use of Social Media to engage resident's in choosing a mural for Arnot Hill Park has been a huge success, with 1000's of responses received via Twitter and Facebook.

Councillor John Clarke (Leader of the Council)

• Thanks to all Officers across the Council. There has been a real air of change and positivity at the Council recently and the fruits of staff's labour are now really being seen in the new initiatives that are being announced.
• Around 1000 jobs will be created with the first phase of work on the site of an old oil depot off Colwick Loop Road
112Councillor Wheeler passed on his thanks to the Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Development for the successful half term sports camp for disabled children. Councillor Wheeler has received excellent feedback from parents and passed on praises for how well advertised the sessions were.
