90 LOCAL GOVERNMENT FINANCE SETTLEMENT & BUDGET 2008/09
RESOLVED:

That the Head of Finance be granted Authority to draft a response to the Minister of State for Local Government on behalf of the Council on the proposed Finance settlement expressing concern at the impact of changes in specific grant provision and the effect of the 'floor damping' mechanism that is extremely costly to small authorities such as Gedling.
91 REPORT ON WEEKLY SUMMER REFUSE COLLECTION
RESOLVED:

i. To note the report.

ii. To continue the weekly summer collection of domestic waste in 2008.

iii. To thank the staff and the public for the success of the scheme.

90The Head of Corporate Services submitted a report that provided the key points of the provisional local government finance settlement for 2008/09, released on 6 December 2007. It also provided an overview of the base budget for 2008/09.
91The Head of Direct Services advised Members of the operational issues arising in connection with the introduction of weekly collections of domestic waste from all properties in the borough during the summer period and of the impact of this on the Council's predicted recycling rate for 2007/08.
