RESOLVED:

To note the report and to thank staff for their hard work during the period.
21 PLANNING FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE (PLANNING WHITE PAPER) AND PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT RIGHTS CONSULTATION
RESOLVED:

That Cabinet note the report and delegate authority to the appropriate Portfolio Holder to approve a response to the large number of detailed consultation questions posed in the White Paper and Permitted Development Rights paper.
22 UPDATE ON NEW NATIONAL WASTE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY
RESOLVED:

To note the requirements of the National Waste Strategy outlined in this report and to authorise the production of a new waste strategy for the Council.

17An apology for absence was received from Councillor W.J. Clarke.

20Consideration was given to a report on the recent flooding problems in the Borough.
21Richard Schofield (Planning Policy Officer) and Nick Morley (Development Control Manager) submitted a report that outlined the key issues raised by the recently published Planning White Paper and their implications for the Council.

The paper focused principally on the proposed changes to the Local Development Framework process, which would impact upon the Council most directly. Details of the accompanying consultation on proposed changes to Permitted Development Rights were also detailed.
22The Head of Direct Services submitted a report that advised members on the recent release of the National Waste Strategy for England 2007 and requested members views on the Government's consultation paper on recycling incentives for households.
23Councillor P.G. Barnes made the following comment and question respectively:-

i. The 'Grand Master' of the Nottingham Masonic Lodge was co-ordinating a campaign to raise funds for people flooded in the recent storms.

ii. Can consideration be given to the practicalities of providing letter boxes in Council flats?
24The Head of Strategy and Performance submitted a report that informed members of the Audit Commission's decision not to include the Council in their recategorisation programme for a corporate reassessment as part of the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) programme.
25The Head of Strategy and Performance informed members of proposed publicity initiatives planned for coming months.
